Kal

Kal is our resident rocker, although he is also partial to a bit of more mainstream music – his top favourite has to be Kylie, in fact his claim to fame is that he met her way back in the day – when they had matching hair! He’s also been known to belt out the odd ABBA tune, but only if you catch him in the right mood at a local karaoke.

Kal’s first radio experience came at school where he helped establish a station in the sixth form.

He began work in radio in Europe in 1982 at a Canadian station, CFNB, broadcasting to Holland and Germany where he was trained by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, CBC. Kal also worked for German radio stations Deutsche Welle and Deutschland Funk in Cologne and has voiced films, dubbing foreign language into English.

He began a long association in British radio in 1983 working for BFBS in numerous countries around the world as a presenter, reporter, news reader and sports presenter. On the administration side Kal held various Promotion Manager, Station Manager and Programme Director posts and became Head of Music and then General Manager of the BFBS worldwide network.

Kal has worked in many countries including Canada, The Middle East, Belize, The Balkans, Gibraltar and Northern Ireland.

In 2009 Kal made the move to Spain and presents the Afternoon Show every weekday from 15:00-19:00 and The Saturday Sports Show between 15:00 and 19:00. Kal can also be heard in the mornings and evenings on Bay Radio’s hourly Spanish News updates
