The World Health Organization (WHO) has again alerted Europe, as it is once again becoming the epicentre of the coronavirus pandemic. ” There is an increase in cases in Europe, “said Maria Neira, Director of Public Health at WHO. “It is mainly in areas where there is a reluctance to get vaccinated against Covid-19”, she added. In addition, she has encouraged the population to get vaccinated, because she argues that not having the Covid-19 vaccine “is very irresponsible”.

Germany

In Germany, the situation is very disturbing and the authorities in the country are very concerned about it and have decided to take the army back to the streets. The Federal Government has mobilized 12,000 military personnel to support medical services that are overwhelmed by the situation now and until Christmas.

Austria

This morning at 00:00, all those not vaccinated against the Covid-19 will be confined. This means that people over the age of 12 who are not immunized will only be able to leave their homes in exceptional cases. Violators face fines of 1,400 euros.

Netherlands

In the Netherlands, since yesterday, 14 November, Covid-19 restrictions have been applied which mainly affect the hospitality industry. The new regulations explain that all premises must close at 18:00. “Those who don’t come here will now have house parties, so I don’t think the problem will be solved,” explained Barbara Kijzer, owner of a bar in Amsterdam.

Serbia and Hungary

In the east, the way to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic is very different. For example, the leaders of Serbia and Hungary ask the same question. “I don’t believe in restrictions, what are vaccines for?” asked Ana Brnabic, Prime Minister of Serbia.

Russia and Romania

In Russia, every day there are records of contagion and in Romania the morgues are full. “Politicians are taking action against the procedures recommended by the medical staff,” explained Octavian Jurma, a health expert in Romania. “We are being totally ignored”.

Bulgaria

Health workers are also desperate in Bulgaria, as they see that only 23% of the country’s population has been vaccinated against Covid-19. This figure is far from 79% in Spain. Therefore, many Bulgarians have had to participate in the elections without being able to leave their homes.
