Holidaymakers in the Murcia region face a more subdued nightlife after health chiefs tightened up restrictions.

Meetings of more than 15 people have been banned.

And late-night bars and discos have been told they can only serve customers outside, not inside, who are sat down in places like terraces where social distancing can be guaranteed.

The move is expected to lead to many nightclubs that are open in the area having to close their doors.

The decision was taken following a meeting sparked by the increase of Covid-19 cases linked to an outbreak a month ago to three people who arrived from Bolivia.

Regional health minister Manuel Villeagas said groups of people indoors in nightspots represented “one of the most dangerous activities that are taking place locally and nationally.”
