A British woman who was staying at the Tenerife hotel hit by the coronavirus has been diagnosed with COVID-19.
Health officials have confirmed that she had arrived at the Costa Adeje Palace on 23 February, and was not part of the initial group including 10 Italians where the first case was identified.
The woman is believed to be showing no symptom and in good health, and she has now been isolated in hospital.
The number of Covid-19 coronavirus cases in Spain climbed to 150 yesterday afternoon.
Seven patients are reported to be in intensive care and 13 of the latest cases involved health workers, adding a new layer of difficulty as authorities work to contain the spread of the disease.
No deaths from coronavirus have been reported here in Spain, and many of the cases are being described as mild.
Spain’s Health Minister Salvador Illa has now recommended that sporting events here with a high expected attendance from zones designated as high-risk for coronavirus, such as northern Italy, should be held behind closed doors.
The events include the return leg of the Champions League fixture between Valencia and Italy’s Atalanta scheduled for next Tuesday March 10 and the Europa League match between Getafe and Inter Milan on March 19.
