Any person with active or non-active work who has children from 0 to 3 years can request the cheque of 100 euros per child announced by the Executive after the agreement of the PGE 2023. That is, provided that the person with children has contributed at least 30 days to social security at some point in their life or has received benefits from the unemployment protection system.

The Ministry of Social Rights points out that the aid comes under the framework of the Families Act which provides for “new conciliation leave: leave for carers, leave to attend to unforeseen family circumstances or a new eight-week parental leave”.

Isabel Rodríguez, spokeswoman for the government, announced on Tuesday the pact on the new General State Budget (PGE) for 2023. The great novelty and star measure is a grant of 100 euros per month per child for families. The agreement of the Executive includes several measures that will mean “the greatest expense in history to strengthen the welfare state”.

After the announcement of the cheque of 100 euros per child, several questions may arise among parents about whether they can request it. This allowance will be granted for each child to all families whose children are between 0 and 3 years old. It has been one of the biggest demands of Unidas Podemos to push forward a PGE afterweeks of negotiations.
