One of the sections of the beach that is located in Tavernes de la Valldigna, Valencia, has been affected by the creation of a new step of more than a meter and a half that divides the sand into two floors. Users who frequent this beach have little space since the spring storms. Now, they are again uncomfortable because of the enormous step of sand that hinders access to the beach.

The regression suffered by the coast has caused two floors to form. This situation affects about 300 meters of coastline and is posing a great problem for the public. Above are installed umbrellas and below, on the seashore, users walk or children play. Bathers have created their own ramps to facilitate access to this stretch of beach.

The residents of Tavernes de la Valldigna complain about the inaction of the administrations while trying to deal with the problem themselves. There is less sand left in front of the frontline farms and there is a risk that the foundations will be exposed. The action of the sea swallowing the sand has also exposed pipes and other services that are normally buried.

Nius Diario points out that, from the City Council assure that carrying out a performance at that point with heavy machinery “will only cause the sea swallows the sand even faster”, as indicated by the Councillor for Urban Planning, Josep Llàcer.

After intense episodes of rain, the beaches of Catalonia were also affected a few days ago. This time it was for the appearance of fecal water that prohibited bathing on the beaches of Badalona. In response, the Government team is studying ways of solving the problem.

Badalona City Council decided to raise the red flag of its nine beaches to check the microbiological quality of sea water. Through its social networks, the council explained that it was expected to maintain the situation for the next 24 hours.
