Forest fires ravage Spain. Early this Monday, 40 fires remain active and it is estimated that the area burned amounts to 20,000 hectares. At least two of them, Jerte and Mijas, have been provoked.

One of the areas most affected by the fires is Extremadura. This Monday, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and King Felipe VI will visit the areas affected by the fires today. Both will be in Extremadura to see how the extinction works are developed in the region.

A brigadista who was working on the extinguishing of the fire in the municipality of Losacio in Zamora died this Sunday. The 62-year-old man has lost his life by being caught in the flames. The wind in the area makes extinction difficult and this Monday has been declared an official day of mourning. The fire remains out of control.

The Pont de Vilomara fire is the second largest fire in Catalonia so far this year. The fire is out of control and is moving at high speed. An estimated 1,700 hectares of burned-out land have been burned. About 200 neighbors have had to be evacuated by the proximity of the flames.

Galicia begins the week with 16 forest fires and a burnt area amounting to 9,100 hectares.

The Losacio fire in Zamora was declared yesterday afternoon and continues on level 2. The fire has forced the evacuation of 9 municipalities due to the proximity of the flames. In total, the evacuation affects 1,800 people who are being rehoused at the Zamora sports centre and it is expected that the fairgrounds will also be enabled.

The fire in Montes de Valdueza, in León, has increased from level 1 to level 2 of the Infocal because of the possible risks it entails for the population and other goods other than those of a forest nature.

Two comrades of the brigadista died this Sunday in the fire of Zamora when they were surrounded by flames. According to the Junta de Castilla y León to EFE, two other people have been evacuated with light burns when they were traveling in their private vehicle at the time of the evacuation of one of the eight localities that have been evacuated because of the fire.

The emergency services of Castile and León have confirmed the discovery of the body of a 69-year-old man in a place burned by the forest fire of Losacio in the Zamoran town of Escober de Tábara. They received the notice around 9 am and the health personnel went to the area and have confirmed the death.

It would be the second fatality in this fire in Zamora after a brigadista was caught this Sunday by the flames when working in the extinction work.
