Through a statement, the unions of Ryanair Union Sindicato Obrera (USO) and the Union of Cabin Crew of Airlines (SITCOLA) announced new strike days from 12 to 15 July, from 18 to 21 July and from 25 to 28 July. Flights cover Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Malaga, Seville, Girona, Santiago de Compostela, Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca.

All those affected -as happened in the June strike- should receive an email or sms from the company informing of any news of their respective trips. Ryanair provides on its website the status of all its flights, cancellations and delays. Customers only need to enter the date and flight number. They can also inform themselves by indicating the origin and destination of the journey.

At the moment there are more than 30 cancelled flights, the vast majority with destination or origin in Madrid and Barcelona. The unions reported that last Tuesday a total of 15 flights were suspended and another 234 suffered delays.

Users affected by the cancellation of flights have the right to full refund of the ticket and expenses as a result of the cancellation of the journey. They can even request compensation of at least 250 euros, according to FACUA.

In addition, European Regulation 261/2004 provides for a series of compensation in case of flight cancellation. Article 7 states that “passengers will receive compensation of 250 euros for flights up to 1,500 kilometers, 400 euros for intra-Community passengers over 1,500 kilometers and for all others between 1,500 and 3,500 kilometers, and 600 euros for all other flights”.

In 2018, a judgment of the Court of Justice of the EU ruled that a strike of workers in falls within the concept of “extraordinary circumstances” that forgives the delivery of compensation.
