It has been in an interview on the French TV channel TF1. Sergei Lavrov, assured that no, that Vladimir Putin, is not sick at all. He literally said “I don’t think anyone who is lucid can see” in Putin “the symptoms of any disease”.
Since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine it has been speculated that Vladimir Putin may be afflicted with various diseases that would diminish his physical and mental capacity. Some sources speak of a “serious form of cancer that progresses rapidly”.
In some of his public appearances over the last hundred days he has been seen sitting, with a strange movement on one of his feet. Or by holding one end of the table, perhaps to avoid unwanted tremors. Also covered with a blanket at the victory day celebrations when the people around him did not seem to have problems with the weather in Moscow.
According to this information, the Russian president would have “no more than two or three years” to live and in the current process he would also be losing his sight. Although Putin would refuse to wear glasses because it could be considered a symptom of weakness.
Different media thought to guess also a possible obsession of Putin with coronavirus. Something that would have led him to take extreme security measures with his environment. An example was the use of an eight-metre table with which to receive visits from leaders of other countries with which the Kremlin wished to exercise extreme caution.
To answer all these speculations Lavrov assured that Putin, who will turn 70 in October, appeared in public “every day”, adding that he makes “speeches and can be heard perfectly well”. On all those who are spreading rumors about the health of the Russian leader he has said “think what you want”.
In the last week the president has been involved with much more. Putin has visited the wounded on the Ukrainian front, shaking hands and awarding them medals. Also presiding over various economic and military councils. Events perhaps planned to show that Putin does not suffer from any illness and that he is able to develop the activities inherent in his position without diminishing.
Putin’s health and private life are subjects on which great censorship is exercised in Russia and Russian citizens avoid speaking in public.
