The product most in demand in the last two years following the coronavirus pandemic is the mask. Since 2020, the authorities have been urging the use of masks to prevent the spread of coronaviruses. From South Korea they have launched a new and curious mask that only covers the nose and can be worn while eating or drinking.
The new mask has been named kosk, a combination of ko, Korean word for nose and mask. Launched by the company ‘Atman’, this new mask is sold for 9,800 won (seven euros) in a box of 10 units at the online retailer Coupang. The Korean product has two pieces, one of them can be removed and leave the mouth exposed.
This new idea has generated all sorts of reactions on social media and just covering your nose has created a lot of confusion for users. ” It’s a stupidity of the next level, no different than people wearing the mask under their nose,” exclaimed a social media user.
Catherine Bennet, president of epidemiology at the Institute for Health Transformation at Deakin University in Australia told local media that masks that only cover the nose are a “strange idea”, but they are “better than nothing”.
These new South Korean masks are designed to be worn under a normal face mask that covers the mouth. The novelty is that this product can be used for dinner or drinks. On the other hand, while many users have criticized them, others defend the ‘kosk mask’ ensuring that “the nose represents the main objective of the coronavirus, so a mask that covers it can be very useful in restaurants”.
